Beautiful Thugg Girls (EP)

Last night I got an email that at first I thought was a hoax. I thought it was a hoax because it came in from Jeffery Lamar Williams, a.k.a. Young Thug. He had heard my Starboy EP and wanted me to do the same to his latest effort: Beautiful Thugger Girls. He said that he knew I had the artistic integrity to squeeze only the sweetest nectars from his work.

I shit you not, this is real. I know, it seems crazy but hey, here you go Thugga.

Episode 35: Live from The 2016 BET Hip Hop Awards

The music, the fashion, the pageantry…the fuckery. Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the 2016 BET Hip Hop Awards.

In this episode the Lowlifes switched things up a little and settled in for a night on the couch (and many brews) to watch went down last Tuesday. The Lowlifes are here to make clarity of all the chaos. So sit back, crack a brew and listen along as we break down the celebration of all things hip hop.

They don’t want the Lowlifes to live podcast the awards….so we podcast the awards.

Episode 34: Low Lifes In The Studio Rant McStuff

Ladies & Gentlemen the Lowlifes are back and boy oh boy, do we have a lot to get off our chest.

In this episode we discuss The Sun’s Tirade from TDE’s next big thing – Isaiah Rashad; ascend the staircase into Frank Ocean’s mind with his double drop – Endless/Blonde; debate whether the name change, changes anything with Young Thug’s Jeffrey; discuss Vince Staple’s Prima Donna complex; and finally vent about Tory Lanez’s I Told You So & Travis Scott’s Birds In The Trap Sing McNight – it’s harsh but we think it’s fair.

Ep 32: The Mixtape

Music is our topic and we discover fresh hatchlings on every episode. Often, said music is in the form of new albums but this week, we all showed up with singles. Enough singles to make a late summer mixtape … so … in a round about way … we’re back to an album. Our own, mixtape album.

Parmigiana Plays May

pissed_off_house_of_cardsJune already? Damn. The year is half over and while it’s been quite solid musically, for me it’s been another month of killing time. Every morning I’m checking my emails like Pete Russo.

Yep. Still no word from the powers that be to help me reconnect with the Lowlifes, but I still have my eyes on the prize and I think this playlist reflects that. Dreaming of relaxing summer sessions in Toronto, a lot of these uptempo jams put me in the mood for impending, party-worthy, good news (that Michael Jackson cover in particular is a gem). However that last little stretch, reality crept in like the Canberra winter and we get a little melancholy. But hey, isn’t that how most parties go anyway?
